Last season, April to June 07, three of our Zelus Club Members took up the challenge to trial a pair of Nike Free 7.0 running shoes for a period of at least 30 days each.  These shoes are classified as a ‘training’ shoe that should be incorporated into your running workouts slowly over a period of weeks and can be used to build the strength of your feet and leg.

Find out how the shoes performed when our footwear reviewers took them to the test.

After 30 day trial of shoe:
"I liked the Nike Free 7.0 very much. Although they took a little time to get used to (of which I was told by the shop assistant beforehand), they were comfortable once I became accustomed to them and very supportive. The light-weight of the shoes was an advantage - although the thinner soles, as compared to my usual running shoes, became a little uncomfortable during the longer distance runs… I would certainly recommend them to joggers who run for shorter distances and walkers."

Shoe reviewing:  Nike Free 7.0

After 30 day trial of shoe:
"The Nike 7.0 is best recommended for short distance running/jogging at moderate pace. It is a very comfortable and snug fitting shoe. This shoe is light weight and is best suited for runners weighing between 70-75kg. The inner sole is fairly stable and stops the feet from rolling around during moderate paced running activities. It also has excellent ventilation for a snug fitting shoe. Cushioning of the midsole and heel is quite good for short distance running (8-10km max).  However the Nike 7.0 does have some limitations in performance (cushioning), when tested on long distances, beyond 10km…In saying this I would not have any hesitation in purchasing another pair of Nike 7.0 for the purpose of integrating it within my current running program."

After 30 day trial of shoe:
"After the 30 day trial, I can comfortably say I am wrapped with the Free’s. I’ve never had a shoe as comfortable as these. I found them to be great when walking and wearing around the gym and will continue to use them as my main shoe for those activities. When running they were also good, especially when doing interval training. I will continue to use them as a training tool for my running but would prefer my regular shoes when doing any longer distances….I think they look great and I’ve already recommended them to my friends, one purchased a pair…"
